In the prophetic book of Daniel, chapter six we can witness the dismal ending of an empire through sinful neglect, and mockery of God. Belshazzar, the Babylonian king had a great party and mocked the God of Israel whom the Babylonians had conquered years before. But God was about to bring Belshazzar’s kingdom to an end as he partied into the night with all of his kingdom cronies.

During the night of drunken festivities, a hand appeared and wrote a cryptic message on the wall. Belshazzar, the vain and debauched ruler, was terrified! Daniel, the Jewish prophet was brought in and he interpreted the writing to mean: “God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it! Thou are weighed in the balances, and art found wanting! Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.” (Daniel 5:25-28)  America’s leaders, following the lead of our present leader, Barak Obama, are willfully oblivious to God’s prophetic warnings and promises!

Belshazzar mocked the one true God of Israel.  While he partied, Babylon’s enemies were blocking up the Euphrates river that flowed under the city walls.  I think there is a parallel between Belshazzar and President Obama.  Mr. Obama, like Belshazzar, parties and parades while stealth invasions are happening not only to America by domestic terrorism, but also in Ukraine, by Putin’s Russia, in Iraq, through ISIS, and Israel by Hamas and Iran.  While he partied, Belshazzar, and all his cronies, “drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.”  While he was drunk with his own inflated view of himself, his kingdom was being taken over.

Belshazzar was warned by God’s prophet, Daniel, but he did not listen.  He and his kingdom went on to be destroyed by the enemies he ignored.  We are now witnessing the disintegration of the Obama presidency.  We are also seeing the downgrade of the United States as a world superpower,  protector of Israel and of the world’s oppressed.  Barak Obama’s neglect even appears to be deliberate and systematic.

Obama stated yesterday that he had no strategy for dealing with the problem of ISIS’ invasion of Iraq, nor with the problem of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.  Neither will the President even use the terms Islamic terrorism as related to ISIS.  Nor, as of yet, will he acknowledge that Russia has actually invaded Ukraine.  Yet the Whitehouse parties continue, the fundraisers continue, the golf games continue!  While beheadings of our citizens are broadcast world-wide, so are the smiling and laughing scenes of America’s President on the golf course!

God will not be mocked! (Galatians 6:7) The invasions and satanic world-wide oppressions of the innocent continue. Terrorist threat levels are being raised in Britain.  Prime Minister David Cameron is boldly taking action in Great Britain against the threat of Islamic terrorism, which term he uses in reference to ISIS.  He articulated a clear strategy for dealing with this terror threat this morning.  Thank the Lord that He is raising up the leadership of Great Britain, and of Prime Minister Cameron, even while America is made to sit idly by to watch the world being set on fire by the wicked.

By consistent indecision and inactivity, President Obama is telling  the threatened citizens of Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, and Israel, that he is not really concerned enough to stop his parties, recreation and fundraising to devote time to develop a plan of action help them.  The individual citizens of these beleaguered and neglected countries need to seek the Lord Jesus Christ who will come to their help and rescue.  The Psalms of the Bible will certainly be an encouragement.  But also the many prophecies in Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Daniel will help to assure them that the Lord will vindicate their suffering at the hands of Satan’s armies.  God promises eternal salvation for those who trust in Jesus Christ, and He will bring daily victory when no one else is willing to help! (Jeremiah 29:11-13)

Today, America’s President is sending a clear message that he has no plans to do anything to stop ISIS or Russia from doing exactly what they want to do to the weak and venerable in those lands.   While Obama parties away his time, we can be sure the handwriting is on the wall!
