The Latter Days, A Time of Increased Travel and Knowledge

“But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase.” (Daniel 12:4)

For many years, prophecy scholars have believed that this amazing verse in Daniel predicts the rapid increase in travel and knowledge in the latter days. It believe that this is exactly what the Holy Spirit is revealing to Daniel. We certainly see this being fulfilled today, but there is something more to this, I believe. It seems that this verse also shows us that we need to understand how in the days just prior to the coming of the Lord Jesus there will be a great increase in desire for knowledge, and not simply scientific knowledge but also spiritual knowledge.

There is a great increase in our days in America and in many countries around the world for greater and deeper knowledge of spiritual truth. Many are seeking and obtaining greater insights into Bible prophecy. The things of the future that the Bible has had within its pages for thousands of years are coming to light today as we draw closer to the coming of the Lord to rapture His church to heaven.

God told Daniel to “conceal,” or “seal up,” the words of the prophecies that the Lord had revealed to Daniel. This “concealing” of these prophecies does not mean that there would not be any understanding as to what they mean until the end times, but that many of the details of these prophecies would be hidden.  Not even Daniel fully understood the implications of these prophecies but he was assured they would be understood in the latter days:  And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. (Daniel 12:8-9)  The details of what God predicted through Daniel awaited a time, such as we are in today, that many events predicted in Scripture would become fulfilled. For example, Israel became a nation again in 1948 and still exists as a distinct country today.  This reality signals the ensuing of many predicted latter days prophecies!  Since Israel became a nation once again, there have been many predictions in the Bible that have come to light for our understanding today.

Keep your eyes on Israel. The growing hatred of the nations toward this little country show that God’s Word is true. He has a distinct purpose in  re-establishing Israel as a nation. Their existence today, which is against all human odds, is a distinct sign that the Lord is coming soon.

The rise of violence, earthquakes and pestilences such as the recent Ebola outbreaks in Africa as well as its presence in America show that Bible prophecy is being fulfilled before our eyes. The more that happens today, the more millions of people are beginning seriously to search the Bible for clarity as to what is unfolding. More people are watching the news, and more are generally keeping up with world events than ever before. But above all, people are wondering, what are the indications of the soon return of the Lord Jesus Christ?  You can search out these answers for yourself.  This is the reason that we have put Prophecy in Perspective on line. You can go to our home page and click on our newsletters, or our videos, or browse the blog articles.  We also offer books for study on the subject of prophecy and its application to practical Christian living.  Our greatest desire is to provide you with insights into the latest world events and issues in the light of God’s inerrant and infallible Word of prophecy.

Along with growing interest in Bible prophecy there is also a tremendous rise in deceptive and misleading teachings today.  (2 Timothy 4:1-4) Satan’s desire is to get people off track of what God has in mind for the world.  But God’s Word, will always lead you into His true intentions for you and for the world.  The Bible will warn you of the many spiritual lies that the devil is seeking to bring upon the world through false religions and cults.  Remember, with the rise in people seeking knowledge of spiritual truth in the latter days will also come the rapid rise of seductive lies of the cults, the occult and of false and deadly religions.  Therefore, there should be no surprise at the scary things that we are seeing today in the religious realm.  Satan hates the fact that Jesus is going to return, so he is working hard to draw off multitudes into religious deception, compromise and even complacency!

Watch out for spiritual charlatans  who are misquoting the Scriptures on the television and in their books!  They draw big crowds by telling them big but seductive lies! I would not commit one cent of God’s money to support them or to subscribe to their money making schemes.   They will  be responsible for sending many to an eternal hell through their mishandling of God’s Word.   Bible prophecy warns us:  “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” (2 Timothy 3:13)

As Christians, we should spend much time in the Word of God and prayer as we live out holy lives before the Lord and before the lost so they too would desire to come to know Jesus Christ as their soon coming Savior.  Remember, Jesus is the only way to heaven.  In John 14:16, Jesus says: “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”  Jesus said that in the end times:  “Many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He!’ and will mislead many” (Mark 13:6)

So many today are scurrying and frantically seeking answers through relationships, jobs, politics, and even religion, but none of these in themselves can truly  help us spiritually.  Over focus on any of these will only lead to deception and bondage because they cannot impart new and eternal life.  But Jesus Christ alone can give you life, hope,  forgiveness and promise of an eternal future.  Jesus said:  “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)

Today, there is much to learn about Bible prophecy.  Through study of the complete Word of God, the Bible, through prayer and the leading of the Holy spirit you can  know more details of Bible prophecy in these latter days than even Daniel.  You can understand these amazing prophecies as God unfolds the details of His prophetic purpose in the events of our days.
